white lgbt westerners will make endless excuses for their ignorance, for their racist and sexist and homophobic behaviour because they were never taught anything in school, they’ve never seen a world map until they were 23 years old despite having access to the internet their entire lives, because they grew up in a conservative family and everyone has a nazi phase as a teenager so really what’s the big deal? but if someone living in the largest concentration camp ever built has a homophobic thought in their head that’s grounds for them and their entire people to be genocided. you people treat yourselves like adult infants who should be given endless amounts of second chances while baying for the blood of Palestinians. genuinely you make me sick. idk i think it says a lot that the ppl living through a genocide are posting, taking videos, scrambling to safehouses to find an internet connection to join international broadcasts, giving interviews while grieving, and half of the progressives/liberals in the west have maxxed out at "it's so complicated it's so sad im going to take a mental health vow of silence"
i am truly never interested in emotionally blackmailing anyone to post (i am determined to make sure people KNOW all they have to do is post and that it's important and needed). i also recognize some people may face personal and financial backlash, and others are more concerned with in-person action and organizing than an online campaign. i am not interested in guilting anyone so if this doesn't apply to you then this doesn't apply to you
but it doesn't seem normal that this isn't one or two people i've noticed, this feels like an empirical trend of progressives. its many many people who are posting about hobbies and cute pet videos like the world hasn't stopped for the rest of us, like their feelings are somehow too complex to be expressed on mere social media, who are no longer engaging with any of it after a few token words of "ugh everything is so awful." rn people are not only countering a media blackout from gaza and trying to assist the journalists fighting to report from the worst and most dangerous circumstances journalists have EVER reported from but also having to fight the war of narratives that israel has declared upon "human animals" and "children of darkness" and it just feels. very deeply telling

im sorry but none of us get to look away from currently ongoing genocide if we are to claim we give a shit about the sanctity of human life. the only people that will benefit from that ignorance are the perpetrators of the genocide that is, again, currently happening. no its not a complex topic. yes it is a heavy one. but knowing even the basics about this situation will go a long way in not helping spread propaganda and inevitable genocide denial bullshit rhetoric the groundworks already been laid for. theres a lot that we owe to those two million palestinian civillians trapped in the gaza strip, their deaths practically signed off by every government that declared solidarity with israel's ceaselessly ongoing ethnic cleansing efforts. and simply knowing general facts on what is going on is the bare minimum all of us should readily give them.
